Summer Favorites & Essentials
Happy Summer Everyone!
With COVID still a major issue we hope you are taking all the necessary precautions to keep you and your loved ones safe. I love all the extra time I get to spend with my family and friends. I especially love the carefree nature of summer.
My main three activities this summer are going to the stables with my daughter, swimming, and my weekly grocery store run. My daughter loves horseback riding and we spend several hours at a time at the barn. I bring my Abarro Basso Lagos Bucket bag with my iPad Pro, notebook, and other work essentials. I’ve gotten so much work done while at the barn. I keep our Adolophine Tote Bag for a grocery store run. I like to bring my own bags to the store. When we get home from being out for a few hours we love to swim. We have been testing out swimsuits that we hope will be ready for you all for resort collection. After swimming and practicing my TikTok dance moves in the pool I will wear a lightweight Moroccan boubou. It also looks great when you get unexpected video and zoom calls from people.
Here are some of my favorite summer products for 2020:
Earrings: With mask-wearing the new norm, my earrings have really taken the star role. I wear either our Afrika earrings, Feza grey ebony earrings, or Fulani earrings every day. If I want a bit of pop and good energy I wear our Malachite earrings.
Necklaces: I’m on a zoom call almost every day. I’m so over zoom and I also don’t have the energy to figure out my outfits every day. I’ve created a zoom uniform. If it’s a super corporate call I wear a white dress shirt with Nairobi beaded collar necklace and matching bracelets. If I’m trying to be all “creative” I will wear our Lilala necklace. If I have a design meeting I either wear a white t-shirt and jeans with a necklace from our Malachite collection. When I have zoom cocktails with friends I like to have a bit more fun by wearing our Langa statement necklace or Kenya Cowrie Necklace.
Bags: Our Zuwena bag are a great size, fun for summer and can be worn crossed body or on your shoulder. I’ve been getting a lot of use out of our Brazza Bucket bag. I wore it all over Kinshasa. It fits everything perfectly. I use our Paigne set as my wallet so it’s super easy to switch bags. Our Dakar Weekend bag is perfect for a quick weekend getaway.
We will be in Martha’s Vineyard for half the summer. I’m beyond excited and grateful to have this time away. I plan on packing super easy items and tons of accessories. I love the new tunic and pant set from Morocco. They are great as an all-day outfit, dinner outfit, or special event. I’m bringing our Kagiso bracelet and chokers since they are easy and fun for the beach. I’m also bringing a Shuka. It can be used as a blanket, beach towel, and a wrap. I actually want to bring all my summer clothes but I will pair down and make a packing list for Martha’s Vineyard.
