Adventures in Nairobi, Kenya
There is nothing like being back on the continent. The excitement is indescribable. There’s nothing like the sound, energy and people of Africa. I hope looking through our blogs, photos, videos and experience you will be motivated to look at the continent with different eyes and it will motivate you to visit.
Today we will explore Nairobi. We had a long layover in Paris. We flew Air France to Paris and then Kenya Airlines (The Pride of Africa) to Nairobi. We had a seven hour flight to Nairobi. We made arrangements with our hotel to have a driver for our entire trip. Kenya Airways was a great experience. We had great service, food and had a lot of entertainment choices. I watched two films on the plane. I cried so much during the first film that the flight attendant felt bad for me and brought me an extra drink and snack. She mentioned that a lot of people cry on the plane while watching movies. I think she was just being really nice to me. I slept for two hours and waited like a child on Christmas Day to land in Nairobi.
I have an American passport now so I got my visa before the trip. Kenya allows you to get an e-visa so you don’t have to make a trip to their embassy. It’s an amazing option. You can even get an East Africa Visa which allows you to get visa for Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda.
Kenya is not my home country but it felt like home when I was there and it has a place in my heart. Our hotel was beyond amazing. I will do a separate post on it. Paul our driver was kind, gentle and can handle my crazy American humor and my Congolese intensity. We had a life changing experience with the Maasai’s, kissed giraffes, learned about furniture making and explored different markets. We made new friends in Kenya, ate well, learned about conservation effort, got first hand account of an amazing tribe and had a fantastic time. Napenda Kenya (means I love Kenya in Swahili).
I hope you enjoy our visual travel video.
