All Dressed Up

Bonjour Mes Amis,

I hope you are all doing well. If you haven’t done so, please check out our 2020 Holiday guide.

Normally I get my holiday guide done quickly but this year required a lot more effort. I really hard to force myself to sit and do it. I stared at a blank screen most of the time and then wasted sooooo much time on Pinterest and Pinterest analytics. I started to notice that I’ve been spending so much time in my pajamas and sweatpants. I even recorded a video about my office update in my pajamas. The pajamas are adorable :-)

To beat some of this funk, I decided to get dressed up to help brighten my mood. I’ve been doing it for the past week, and it’s been really helpful. I’m in better spirits, I’m more focused, and it's fun to play dress up. Now I’m not wearing gowns or anything too extra. It’s just nice to wear real clothes and not pajamas.

On the first day of my experiment, I wore black AG jeans, a white blouse, a grey blazer, and black ankle boots. I rarely wear makeup, but I decided on mascara and a little bit of blush on that day. I wore my jewelry, really brushed my hair, and went about my day. I normally walk my dog, Goldie, around noon for about 15 minutes. On day one, I was feeling energetic, so we ended up going on a 45-minute walk. Goldie was surprised, and so was I. I came back home, worked for a few hours, and left on time (instead of rushing) to pick Georgette up from school. When she came home, she did a fashion illustration class online. I answered emails, and then we baked cookies and made tacos for dinner. Side-note: we haven’t baked cookies since May.

I know what you are thinking…….that’s a load of BS. It’s not at all. I’m not saying that this strategy will work for everyone, but so far, it's working for me, and I’m starting my third week. I’ve been able to clear almost all of my emails, do some organization projects that I have been procrastinating on, I’ve caught up with loved ones, and I’m planning things for 2021.

It’s tough to stay motivated with all that is going on in the world. More and more people keep getting infected by Coronavirus. America is deeply divided. Europe is on lockdown. Many people have lost their jobs (especially women), more and more people are food insecure, and the dreary, cold, and dark winter weather doesn’t help. We have to find a way to get through this really tough period. Sometimes something as simple and silly as getting dressed in proper clothes can be a tool to help fight the coronavirus fatigue and winter blues.

I hope you all stay safe, healthy, and continue to take all the necessary precautions. We are here to answer any and all of your questions. You can always email or contact us on social media. Don’t forget to follow us on Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, and Youtube.
